In-House
Diagnostics

When your pet is sick, a family member is sick – and we are here to help. Central Bucks Veterinary Hospital utilizes state-of-the-art in-house diagnostic equipment that enables us to investigate illnesses thoroughly, accurately, and efficiently, allowing us to diagnose and treat many medical conditions that your pet may be experiencing. We achieve this through a variety of diagnostic tools:

Blood and Urine Analysis

Blood and urine contain crucial information and their analysis is an essential step to uncovering what is ailing your pet. Our analyzers provide a wealth of information regarding your pet's blood cells, internal organ function, electrolytes, and sugar level. Having these analyzers in our hospital allow us to quickly initiate the correct treatment and continue to tailor the treatment to your pet's specific needs.

Digital Radiology (“X-Ray”)

Digital radiology is an imaging tool that provides a rapid way to examine your pet’s internal organs and musculoskeletal system. Compared to film radiology, digital radiology offers superior image quality and there is no time lost in processing the image, allowing our team to diagnose and treat your pet promptly. If a specialist’s opinion is needed, our digital radiographs can be easily sent to a board-certified radiologist for further review.

Point of Care Ultrasonography

Ultrasonography is an imaging tool that uses safe high-frequency sound waves to produce images of internal organs and other tissues. Our powerful ultrasound instrument produces high-resolution three-dimensional images that enable us to catch important issues, such as overt cancerous masses and abnormal accumulation of fluid, that digital radiology may be unable to detect.

Cytology

Cytology is the examination of cells using a microscope. Our high-powered microscopes allow us to accurately diagnose and treat infections and determine if masses on or beneath the skin can remain or need to be surgically removed.

Blood Pressure Monitoring

Blood pressure affects every organ in the body and abnormal blood pressure can have tragic and irreversible consequences. Our accurate blood pressure monitoring can be essential for managing chronic diseases as well as for assessing your pet’s condition during critical, life-threatening times.

Electrocardiogram (“ECG”, “EKG”)

An electrocardiogram is used to record and assess the electrical signals within your pet’s heart, enabling our team to identify a variety of different heart conditions that may be unable to be detected any other way. Using an electrocardiogram, alongside our heart imaging tools, will allow our team to determine the best treatment plan to treat the underlying cardiac defect or support your pet’s cardiac function.

Gentle Care Approach

We know that veterinary visits can be stressful. Pets are not in their usual environment and are having unusual things done to them. Our goal at Central Bucks Veterinary Hospital is to maximize both the physical health and mental wellbeing of our patients.

To honor our patients, we have designed our processes and procedures through their eyes. We strive to provide a stress-free experience so that your pet can remain as calm as possible, which will enable our team to provide you with the best medical recommendations and treatments for your pet, while avoiding the need for sedation. Our team is well-trained in gentle approaches to providing care and advocates the use of safe and effective pre-visit calming medications for pets that are stressed in a hospital setting.
